ER24 Rescue Medics had to use specialised equipment to free the woman from the car.

POLOKWANE – A woman was critically injured when a light motor vehicle and a bakkie collided on the N1 South approximately 30km outside Polokwane.

According to ER24, paramedics and other services arrived to find a bakkie upright on the side of the road, while a light motor vehicle had come to a stop in the middle of the road.

“On closer inspection, medics found a woman trapped inside the light motor vehicle in a critical condition. ER24 Rescue Medics had to use specialised equipment to free the woman from the car,” a statement read.

Once released, medics treated the woman and provided her with advanced life support interventions before she was transported to Mediclinic Limpopo for urgent care.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.

POLOKWANE – Transport media liason officer Mike Maringa said the N1 South is partially closed next to The Ranch following an incident between a truck and a sedan.

“North-bound lanes are completely closed and one lane is open for south-bound traffic,” he said.

Heavy rain was reported in the area at the time of the incident.

Motorists travelling between Polokwane and Mokopane are advised to use the R101.
