Head-on collision leaves one dead on N1 near Louis Trichardt

Transport media liason officer Mike Maringa says the road remains partially closed.

POLOKWANE – One person was killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a sedan on the N1, 10km’s before Louis Trichardt.

Transport media liason officer Mike Maringa said emergency personnel used the jaws of life to free the driver of the sedan who was trapped in the wreckage.

“Motorists are advised to drive with caution as most of our roads are wet. The road remains partially closed with one lane open to traffic,” he said.

Earlier, wet conditions also caused a partial closure of the N1 South near the Ranch. The incident also involved a truck and a sedan.

Motorists travelling between Polokwane and Mokopane are advised to use the R101.
