Drugs worth R20 000 found in Bendor townhouse

A 32-year-old man was arrested on Friday (March 11) in possession of ecstasy and mushrooms with an estimated street value of R20 000.

POLOKWANE – The Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Jan Scheepers has commended police for their determination in rooting out the scourge of drug dealing which “appears to be mushrooming in affluent areas of Polokwane”.

Scheepers’ remarks follow the arrest of a 32-year-old man on Friday (March 11) for allegedly dealing and being in possession of ecstasy and mushroom with an estimated street value of R20 000.

The man’s arrest happened a week after R4.2m worth of drugs were confiscated during a drug bust at Thornhill Village on Friday (March 4).

Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo says the man was arrested at his rented townhouse in the Mopani Park complex in Bendor after the provincial organised crime narcotic and crime intelligence units conducted joint surveillance of an alleged drug syndicate.

“The suspect will appear before Polokwane Magistrate’s court on Monday (March 14) as investigations continue,” he said.
