POLOKWANE – With its distinct manilla green exterior, clean body and 16” rims, it’s no wonder Conroe Ross’ beloved Wasabi was named the best MK1 Caddy in South Africa at this weekend’s Vdub Camp Fest 2022.
The annual festival sees people from all over the country showcasing their pimped Volkswagens to be judges by a panel.
Ross gave Review Online a detailed tour of Wasabi, explaining that the car runs on a 1.8 carborator engine that has been chromed in certain parts and tucked away to give it a clean look.
The interior boasts VW Golf 5 GTI seats, a VW Velocity dashboard and steering wheel and is finished off with a splash of brown. 
When asked if he’ll ever get used to the attention that the car gets, Conroe shared that it’s not a big deal to him. “
This is not the first car that I have worked on so it’s nothing new to me. I am used to my cars getting attention,” he said.
