Water woes continue into the week

Water tankers will continue to provide temporary relief to affected areas.

POLOKWANE –  Water woes over the weekend have continued into the week and is set to affect various areas.

Over the weekend, Lepelle Northern Water informed the Polokwane Municipality of an “ongoing power failure” at their Olifantspoort.

“The power failure has resulted in the plant not operating, meaning there is no water being pumped from Olifantspoort Plant to Polokwane Municipality since Friday,” municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala said in a statement at the time

Meanwhile, another problem has hampered water supply to the city. Selala explained in a statement earlier this morning that a pipe burst has been detected on the Dap Naudé supply line.

“The line supplies to the Dalmada Purification Plant and has resulted in the Krugersburg reservoir receiving no supply. In turn, supply to Flora Park, Bendor, Sterpark, the central business district, South African Breweries and Coca-Cola has been affected,” he explained.

Selala confirmed that water tankers will continue to provide temporary relief in the meantime.

“Water supply shall be restored once the Dap Naudé line has been fixed within an estimated eight hours from 09:00. For further assistance, contact the Water and Sanitation Call Centre on 015 023 5376 / 5629,” he concluded.
