Cable theft leaves Emdo Park and surrounding areas in the dark

The Polokwane Municipality says serious damage has been caused to the 11KV line and there is no time estimation on when power could be restored.

POLOKWANE – Electricians are currently attending to a cable theft incident near the Sasol garage on the Dendron Road.

The theft of a high voltage cable has left Emdo Park, Mahlasedi Park, Lesedi Park and surrounding areas without electricity. 

Municipal spokesperson, Thipa Selala says serious damage has been caused to the 11KV line and there is no time estimation as yet on when could power be restored.

“An update will be made in this regard. In the meantime, in order to avoid electrocution or damage to appliances, all electrical cables should be considered to be live and all electrical appliances be switched off,” he said.

Cable theft can be reported to the municipality on 015 023 5458, the SAPS Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or the Eskom crime line 0800 11 27 22.
