Water shortages in city: muni asks LNW for answers

The Polokwane Municipality has engaged with Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) to determine the reasons behind the current low water supply to the city

POLOKWANE – The Polokwane Municipality has engaged with Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) to determine the reason behind the current insufficient water supply to the city.

According to the municipal communication officer Matshidiso Mothapo readings taken this morning (Wednesday) revealed that Olifantspoort Plant was not pumping water to the city. “On Tuesday night, Ebenezer Scheme also indicated to be pumping 0 liters per second (0 l/s) to Polokwane,” he added.

As of this morning (Wednesday), the water levels at the Potgieter, both Krugersburg’s 30Ml Dome and 30Ml Flat reservoirs sit at 0%.

“The municipality has engaged with LNW to locate the problem behind the lack of water supply.”

He explained that in the meantime, the municipality has deployed water tankers to all areas that are experiencing water shortage to provide temporary relief.

Mothapo on behalf of the municipality also urged residents who reside or work in the areas receiving supply, to use water sparingly.
