Drug dealers nabbed in Mankweng and Mokopane

Six drug dealers were arrested by police in Mankweng and Mokopane in separate incidents.

LIMPOPO – The fight against drugs in the province continues to bear fruit, as evident by recent arrests.

In the latest of such arrests, police in Mankweng and Mokopane arrested five drug dealers in separate incidents on Tuesday (February 22).

According to a statement by police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, three men between the ages of 23 and 37 were nabbed in Mentz village, Ga-Mamabolo.

“Residents informed police in Mankweng about men who were in possession of drugs. The three men were arrested after they were found in possession of crystal meth and nyaope worth an estimated R15 000,” he explained and said another man was also arrested during the same operation, after he was found in possession of a dangerous weapon.

Mojapelo said the successes of ridding the province of drugs did not stop there.

“In a separate incident, Provincial Organised Crime Unit and Crime Intelligence members nabbed two men for dealing in drugs. The intelligence-driven operation was conducted in the residential areas of Mokopane in the Waterberg district,” he said.

Another drug dealer was arrested in Mokopane, in a separate incident. “Police received a tip-off about a man dealing in drugs in Meintjies Street. A 40-year-old foreign national was arrested,” Mojapelo added.

He said the suspects are expected to appear before the Mankweng and Mokopane magistrate’s courts soon.

Acting provincial police commissioner Major General Jan Scheepers applauded the members who affected these arrests. He also thanked residents for their continuous support in assisting the police in the fight against crime.
