POLOKWANE – A man has died and a woman and child injured, after the vehicle they were travelling in rolled on Thursday (February 17).
In a statement, ER24’s spokesperson Russel Meiring the incident happened on an unnamed road off the R37 in Ga-Maja, approximately 54km outside Polokwane.
He explained that ER24 paramedics and another service attended to the scene. “ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find a sedan on the side of road in the bottom of a drainage ditch. A man was found trapped in the driver’s seat, while a woman and young boy were found lying outside wreckage.”
Meiring added that the medics quickly assessed the patients and found that the man had already succumbed to his numerous injuries and was declared dead at the scene.
“The child, aged 3, was found with moderate injuries and was treated on the scene. The woman was found in a critical condition and had to be provided with advanced life support,” he said.
Both patients were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Russel concluded that local authorities were on the scene for further investigations. The cause of the incident will form part of a police investigation.
