Polokwane to host Cricket South Africa rural inland week

Coach Ntsako Sono says Limpopo stand a good chance of winning the title.

POLOKWANE – The head coach of the Limpopo Impala Cricket rural week team, Ntsako Sono, says they stand a good chance of winning the title.

Polokwane will play host to the Cricket South Africa (CSA) rural inland week that will kick off at the Polokwane Cricket Club on Thursday with both 50-over games and T20’s over the weekend.

The rural week forms a critical part of CSA’s pipeline as it gives players from rural areas an opportunity to pit their skill against other top cricketers from within South Africa.

The tournament will include teams from KwaZulu-Natal coastal and inland, Mpumalanga, Free State, Northern Cape, North West , Gauteng and Limpopo showcase their talent to the various scouts from CSA.

Limpopo will open the tournament against Kwa Zulu-Natal inland and Sono says they are happy to have selected a team of both young and experienced players.

“Most of the players have played in the Colts and Rural Week before. Most of them have experience which is key in our contention for the title. We are host and we must make good use of the home ground. I don’t see anything preventing us from lifting the trophy.”
