LIMPOPO: Four injured in motorbike crash on R81

LIMPOPO – A traffic incident between a motorbike and two other vehicles left four people injured.

The incident occurred on Sunday morning (February 13) on the R81 road near Marotholong village between Munnik and Mooketsi.

ER24 paramedics attended to the scene just after 11:30 and four people were treated for injuries which ranged from serious to minor, Ineke van Huyssteen ER24’s multimedia journalist explained in a statement on Sunday evening.

“A man and woman who were travelling on the motorbike sustained serious injuries, while, a mother and her son from one of the vehicle involved, sustained minor to moderate injuries.”

The occupants from the second vehicles were uninjured.

“ER24 as well as the Provincial EMS treated the patients at the scene before transporting them a nearby hospital for further medical care,” Van Huyssteen said.

Authorities  were on the scene to investigate.

Meanwhile, in a separate collision along the R37 road at around 05:30 on Sunday morning, a woman lost her life after the vehicle she was driving overturned.

The incident occurred approximately 7km outside Polokwane and according to Mike Maringa, the Media Liaison Officer for the Department of Transport and Community Safety, a passenger was also seriously injured in the collision.

Reckless driving has been cited as the possible cause of the incident, he added.
