A slice of heaven with a kasi twist

Chef Philander Nomvela is the proud owner of Kota House Restaurant in Seshego that offers mouthwatering pizzas and buffalo wings

POLOKWANE – Philander Nomvela is a chef who brings world-class pizzas to the township.

The 32-year-old Seshego resident explained that although his business, Kota House Restaurant, initially started with kotas as the main attraction, pizzas have taken over as the star of the show.

“Almost everyone in South Africa loves pizza. It is not easily accessible in the townships, which is why I decided to distribute mine here. There is a huge demand for it,” he said.

Philander currently employs a delivery man who ensures the delectable pizzas reach their customers on time. Pizzas are not his only specialty, as he also boasts with buffalo wings with a sauce that he makes from scratch.

He explained his pizzas are like no other and they offer unique specials which makes the restaurant stand out.

“My pizza toppings are packed with a compound called glutamate, which can be found in the tomatoes, cheese and meats. When glutamate hits our tongues, it tells our brains to get excited and to crave more of it. This compound actually causes our mouths to water in anticipation of the next bite,” he said.

Philander enjoys to interact with his customers on social media and he invites people to visit his Facebook page, Pizza Stone, or contact him on 065 881 8561.
