Stuurboys make running errands easier

Wilfred Mabotja and Kgaugelo Maeko take orders from clients for whatever service, be it takeaways, groceries, parcels or laundry and deliver to the clients' doorstep.

POLOKWANE – Stuurboy Deliveries and Supplies is bringing convenience to the people of Seshego through their business. The business, founded in April 2020 is the brainchild of Wilfred Mabotja and Kgaugelo Maeko, who told BONUS that the idea was inspired by the limited movement during the hard lockdown.

“We thought, how can we make people’s lives easier by running an errand service. We initially thought of selling and delivering bread, milk and vegetables to households but through research and God’s intervention, we realised that would be limited,” Mabotja explained.

Maeko says they branded themselves as ‘convenient errand runners’, adding that the Afrikaans word ‘stuur’ means to send.

“The word ‘stuur’ was popular during our childhood and was mostly used as street slang when we were sent to the shops. We felt it’s only fair to use a relatable catchy phrase that relates to the type of services we are providing,” he said.

They take orders from clients for whatever service, be it takeaways, groceries, parcels or laundry and deliver to the clients’ doorstep.

They have received a positive response from the community, which has been a motivation to improve their business. “We are humbled and appreciative of the support and can only hope that our services continue to make people’s lives easier and convenient,” Mabotja said.

They offer an obligation-free service for the elderly and chronically ill/challenged, by collecting and delivering their medication from clinics or hospitals to their homes in Seshego.
