Muni: Power outages in city being ‘attended to’

It is not yet clear how long it will take to restore power supply to the affected areas.

POLOKWANE – The Polokwane Municipality has assured residents that Eskom technicians are hard at work attending to power outages that have affected most parts of the city. The outages are as a result of no supply from the Eskom supply line on the Silicon Mine side, said municipal spokesperson Matshidiso Mothapo in a statement this afternoon (February 9).

The affected areas include south west down town, Voortrekker Park, Civic Centre, Capricorn, Penina Park, Ivy Park, Ivydale Plots, Flora Park Nirvana, Superbia, Westenburg and surrounding areas.

“Eskom technicians are attending to the matter. It is not yet clear how long it will take to restore power supply to the affected areas. In the meantime, residential are urged to switch off all electrical appliances and to consider all electrical cables to be live.”
