POLOKWANE – Apart from being the month of love, February is also the International Feline Health Awareness Month.

Local organisation, The Charlie Project, would like to raise awareness for feline health and care for cats, especially feral cats, in the community. The team came up with a plan and approached various veterinary clinics who agreed to join forces to get as many cats as possible sterilised.

“The number of unwanted kittens is enormous and these cats end up on the streets living in horrendous conditions and eventually dying due to reasons that could have been prevented,” explains Sonica Fritz of The Charlie Project.

“Please do the responsible thing and don’t be part of the problem. This is the only way to reduce the number of unwanted cats in our communities.

The normal price for sterilisation can be anywhere from R1 000, but this February these clinics will do sterilisations for R650 (Blouberg and PVC) and R600 (Mollie Hawken) and castrations for R350.

These clinics will also offer a 25% discount on any dental procedures or vaccinations.
