[WATCH] Case against multi-murder accused Dube postponed

The families of the seven victims were present at the Seshego Magistrate's Court earlier today. Review spoke to a family member of one of the victims.

POLOKWANE – The case against Zimbabwean national Themba Dube, was postponed by the Seshego Magistrate’s court on Thursday (January 27) for further investigation and to await DNA results.

Dube stands accused of kidnapping and murdering seven women from Polokwane and surrounding areas between August and October last year. He faces seven counts of kidnapping and murder.

Dube’s modus operandi, accord to the police, was to lure women under the pretence of offering them jobs.

Members of various community stakeholders and political parties were gathered outside the court calling for the court not to grant bail to the accused.

The families of the seven victims were present today with the hope that the suspect would give information on whoever he was working with when he committed the murders.

Review spoke to a Pliziwe Mothiba a family member of Sarah Mothiba, one of Dube’s victims. She called for justice to take its course.

The chairperson of the Seshego Community Against Crime and Gangsterism, Vincent Kunutu, also addressed the crowd and pleased for the community to join hands with the organisation and take a stand against gender-based violence.

Dube was arrested  in November after he was found in the possession of a cellphone belonging to a woman who was reported missing. While in police custody he confessed to killing her and six other women, and led police to various locations in the city where he had dumped their bodies.

Dube is expected back in court on February 28. He will remain in custody
