Multi-murder accused Themba Dube back in court

Zimbabwean national Themba Dube is accused of kidnapping and murdering seven women from Polokwane and surrounding areas.

POLOKWANE – Zimbabwean national, Themba Dube, who is accused of kidnapping and murdering seven women from Polokwane and surrounding areas, will next appear in the Seshego Magistrate’s Court today (January 27).

Dube was positively linked to one murder case after he was found in possession of a cellphone belonging to a woman who was reported missing. Once linked to her disappearance, Dube reportedly confessed to killing her, and six other women, and led police to various locations in the city where he had dumped their bodies.

Dube’s modus operandi, accord to the police, was to lure women under the pretence of offering them jobs.

The case sparked outrage in the community and during his last court appearance, Dube opted to represent himself, but was advised to seek free, legal counsel before the case was postponed.

He remained in custody.

The chairperson of the Seshego Community Against Crime and Gangsterism, Vincent Kunutu, says the organisation is pleading with the community to join in protest outside the court and take a stand against gender-based violence.

“We are hoping that he will, during the proceedings, reveal the names of the people he was working with so that all of them can be dealt with by the mighty hand of the law. Our association is asking the community to show their support for the affected families by meeting from 09:00,” he said.
