POLOKWANE – The Limpopo MEC for Education, Polly Boshielo says she is not bothered by calls for her to resign.
Speaking during the announcement of the National Senior Certificate (NSC) final examination results at the Ranch Resort on Friday, Boshielo maintained that despite calls for her removal, she remained unbothered because “the investments made into the department over the past three years are starting to yield results.”
Boshielo’s remarks follow the DA and EFF Student Council’s call for her to be dismissed following a steady decline in the matric results over the past few years.

Limpopo recorded a pass rate of 66.7% which placed the province in last place and is almost 10% less than the national pass rate.
“I was appointed in May 2019 and less than a year later, the pandemic hit. I didn’t know what it was and no other MEC had gone through a pandemic. When I spoke to the Premier, he expressed the same sentiments. I did not appoint myself, he appointed me and only he can remove me,” she told the media.
Boshielo broke down the provincial results and emphasised that even though the pass rate was lower, the province still had more learners who passed than the province in first place.
