Search continues for Imelani Mudau (6)

The Mudau family of Mukula village is desperately looking for their six-year-old child who went missing on January 8.

LIMPOPO – Imelani Mudau was accompanied by his mother to a local crèche on the day of his disappearance.

The chairperson of the Mulula-Sathane Civic Association, Mudani Mukwevho said the boy, who cannot speak, was walking behind his mother on their way there, and when she reached the crèche she realised he must have fallen behind and was no longer with her.

Tshilidzi Madavha, the owner of the local crèche said she took care of Imelani during the day and has assisted in the search for him.

They found the child’s sandals in the vicinity, but there was no sign of him.

Limpopo police spokesperson, Sergeant Maphure Manamela said police in Thohoyandou opened a missing person’s case and investigations are ongoing.

“During his disappearance the boy was wearing a red T-shirt and grey trousers. The police, family and residents from the community searched for the child around the village and surrounding areas, including relatives, but with no success.

Anyone with information that can assist the police to find the missing child can contact Detective W/O Maxwell Ndidzulafhi Nemaxwi on 071 126 2569 or the crime stop number at 08600 10111, their nearest police station or through the MySAPSApp,” said Manamela.

Villagers fear that the boy’s disappearance resembled that of another young child, Isaac Ramugondo of Tshamulungwi village about 12 years ago, who was never found.

The child was with his mother who was washing clothes in the local river at the time of his disappearance.

The incident had a huge impact on the community, so much so that the Tshivenda band, Adziambei, released a song entitled Nwana o ngalangala (A Child Went Missing).
