POLOKWANE – Flora Park resident Matjatji Harpestad says she was led by God to write her book titled The Faithful God.
The author resigned from her position as public relations officer and promotion coordinator at Meropa Casino and Entertainment World in 2020 to focus on her writing. She told the Polokwane Observer that God guided her during a time of fasting and prayer.
“I don’t think I was ready by then, but He started to prepare me. I spent months with God seeking His guidance. I was tired of doing things my way and wanted His direction,” she says.
Matjatji explains in September 2021 she struggled to sleep and says the Holy Spirit told her to write her book. “I felt in my spirit that it was time. The title and cover colours and images were all revealed to me and I began to write the following day,” she says.
Matjatji adds the book starts with her personal experiences of the faithfulness of God.
“My main challenge while I wrote was time management. I had to learn how to incorporate writing a book into my daily activities as I’m a mother, housewife and an entrepreneur. I had to wake up early and work on the book and when I had free time during the day I would continue,” she says.
Matjatji is also the founder of Opulence Hairstyles where she makes customised and affordable wigs that are suitable for every occasion.
“I’ve never thought that I could write a book, but God can do great things for us that we never expected. He placed gifts inside of us and when we seek Him, He will bring them forth so that we can function in our purpose. You should never be afraid to start something new, especially if you have a conviction in your spirit,” concludes Matjatji.
