Patel: Fatima murder case to continue in April

The murder trial was set to take place from Tuesday (January 4).

POLOKWANE – A second Covid-19 test, requested by the State, has confirmed that Rameez Patel does indeed have the Coronavirus.

On Tuesday (January 4) the defence lawyer, Meshack Thipe, handed in a doctor’s certificate to indicate that Patel had the virus, however, the state disputed the document.

Judge President Ephraim Makgoba granted the state their request in the Limpopo Division of the High Court in Polokwane, that Patel be tested again at the Pietersburg Provincial Hospital the next day (January 5).

Patel was to appear before court from January 4-14 on a charge of murder following the death of his first wife, Fatima, in April 2015.

The case against him for murdering his mother was struck off the roll in August last year after the state could not locate certain key witnesses.

The Fatima murder case has been postponed to April 4.
