Two dead following apparent road rage incident

The Limpopo police have launched a manhunt for a man and woman who were involved.

LIMPOPO – The police in Sekgosese have launched a manhunt for a couple who were involved in a road rage incident in Roerfontein village on January 1.

The incident occurred along the Roerfontein public road where it is alleged a female driver bumped into a stationery vehicle, belonging to her neighbour.

According to police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, the SAPS received a complaint about a shooting incident near a local hotel. “Preliminary investigations revealed that the male suspect was called to the scene by his girlfriend (the female suspect), after her vehicle keys were taken by the owner of the stationery vehicle she had bumped into.”

Mojapelo explained that on his arrival at the scene and without uttering any word, the boyfriend shot at the two men before he and his girlfriend drove away in a white Nissan NP 200.

Both victims sustained gun shot wounds.

Mojapelo explained that both men were transported to hospital in private vehicles. “The one man died on arrival at hospital while the other succumbed to his injuries sustained after the vehicle he was being transported in overturned.

The deceased were identified as Thabo Lawrence Masia (32) and Jeffrey Masetla (38).

The SAPS are investigating cases of murder, attempted murder and culpable homicide.

“A manhunt has been launched for the two suspects and anyone with information that can assist in their investigation can contact the investigating officer Warrant Officer David Maseakwala on 079 809 0993. Alternatively they can contact the 24-hour Crime Stop number on 086 001 0111, their nearest police station or via the MySAPSApp.”
