Two motorists arrested for excessive speeding on N1 highway

Both men were caught by an inspector attached to the Limpopo Traffic Police.

LIMPOPO – The Limpopo Traffic Police on Tuesday (December 28) arrested two men for exceeding the prescribed speed limit of 120km/h.

The men were arrested by provincial inspector Ledwaba along the N1 highway. Their speed ranged between 172km/h to 190km/h.

According to the departmental spokesperson Matomi Moremi-Taueatsoala, a 29 year-old driver of a Volkswagen Golf R was clocked at a speed of 172km/h. “He was proceeded by another male driver (aged 42) who was recorded driving at a speed of 190km/h in a Mazda.”

He called on motorists to adhere to the rules of the road and drive as per the prescribed speed limit in order to save the lives of commuters and other road users.

Both men were charged with reckless and negligent driving and for speeding.
