POLOKWANE – A horrific incident on the R81 near Ga-Dikgale, approximately 30km outside Polokwane, has claimed the lives of two people.
The collision earlier this morning (December 21) involved three vehicles (two bakkies and a sedan) and left two people with serious injuries, while a third sustained minor injuries.
Transport spokesperson Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala confirmed the incident and said it is believed the driver of the sedan lost control, collided with one of the bakkies and overturned.
“The bakkie the sedan collided with, then bumped into the SAPS vehicle. The driver and a passenger of the sedan were killed. Reckless and negligent driving has been cited as a possible cause of the incident,” he explained.
The injured were taken to a private hospital in Polokwane.
Meanwhile, Limpopo Transport and Community Safety MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya earlier warned traffic officers will not tolerate any transgressions and will deal harshly with those caught not adhering to the rules of the road.
