More heavy rain expected tonight as SAWS issues Level 2 warning

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has once again warned of heavy rain and possible hail.

POLOKWANE – The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has once again warned of heavy rain expected from this evening over Limpopo and the eastern parts of Mpumalanga.

A yellow Level 2 warning for disruptive rain was issued by the service on Tuesday morning. The alert commences from 20:00 until 11:59 and encompasses the northern, eastern and south-eastern parts of Limpopo, including Polokwane.

The service in a statement once again warned of heavy downpours and hail damage. “Localized flooding of susceptible formal/informal settlements or roads, low-lying areas and bridges can be expected,” the statement reads.

They also warned of difficult driving conditions on dirt roads, minor motor vehicle incidents due to slippery roads and/ reduced visibility.

Meanwhile weather forecasts predict a wet week ahead.
