[WATCH] Limpopo police looking for suspects who robbed security officers

Three armed men robbed guards from a private security firm in Groblersdal of their firearms and vehicle, says the police

LIMPOPO – Provincial police are investigating an robbery which took place in Muller Street in Groblersdal on 17 November.

According to a statement issued by police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo the victims, security officers from a private security firm, were seated in a company vehicle when they were accosted by three unknown men.

Mojapleo explained that the men were held at gunpoint and robbed of two service firearms. “In the process the suspects forced one of the security guards into the back of the vehicle then drove off.”

The kidnapped man however managed to jump from the moving vehicle and ran away to seek assistance, he added.

The vehicle was later found abandoned some kilometers away from the crime scene and a case of armed robbery was opened.

Video footage from the vehicle has been distributed by the police in an effort to track down those responsible for the crime committed.

“The police are appealing to the public to provide information on the whereabouts of the following men whose faces are clearly recognizable in the clip and pictures below. It is believed that they can assist in the ongoing investigations,” Mojapelo said.

    Anyone with information should urgently contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Jappie Skhosana on 0725986640. Alternatively they can also contact the 24-hour Crime Stop number on 086 001 0111, their nearest police station or via the MySAPSApp.

    Mojapelo concluded: “Informants may opt to remain anonymous and any information received will be treated with confidentiality.”
