Tjokkie outmuscles competitors to take silver at Arnold Classic
Tjokkie van Tonder beat 11 bodybuilders from other provinces for a well-deserved podium position and a silver medal.
POLOKWANE – Tjokkie van Tonder represented the province at the Arnold Schwarzenegger Sports Festival held in Gauteng on November 21 and did not disappoint.

He said despite losing the coveted title, he is still happy to have competed at the biggest bodybuilding competition in the country.
“I was close to winning the overall title. I prepared well and my conditioning was good.
“I learned valuable lessons and one of the things that I took to heart is that we must not underestimate ourselves.
“That is my message to all the athletes in the province. It doesn’t matter that we are from small towns.
“We are good, we just need more platforms like this to showcase our talents.”
He said he will start to prepare for other bodybuilding events next year.
“I am done for this year and excited to see next year’s calendar of events,” Van Tonder said.
