Munhle keeps girls in school through her donations

Miss Akasia South Africa 2021 top 12 finalist Munhle Mlambo selected Good Hope Primary School as one of her goodwill beneficiaries and donated sanitary towels last Wednesday.

POLOKWANE – A few weeks prior, Munhle donated school uniforms and stationery to the school which was distributed to learners in need.

She told Polokwane Observer that she wanted to keep the girls in school through attending to their menstrual hygiene needs.

“I believe that failure to have proper sanitary menstruation materials such as underwear and sanitary towels for adolescent girls can have negative health consequences. That’s why I felt it was important to donate sanitary towels to the school. A little goes a long way,” she said.

Good Hope teacher Charleen van Schalkwyk was speechless and happy to receive the sanitary towels on behalf of the school. She was accompanied by learners Cecilee van Biljon, Michelle van Wyk, Engerin Adams, Beyonce Ncube and Katlego Semenya.

“We are more than grateful for the sanitary pads as they will assist the girls a lot. We appreciate Munhle for the kind work she did for the school,” Charleen said. Miss Akasia will be crowned on December 11.
