Polokwane resident Msimeki appointed to BASA board

Msimeki Nkatingi was appointed as a non-executive director on the board of Business and Arts South Africa (BASA).

POLOKWANE – The 30-year-old businessman from Flora Park is the managing director of MIN Creative Co, a branding and marketing company based in Bryanston, Johannesburg as well as several other online businesses. He has a B.Com degree from the University of the Western Cape and also holds a diploma in multimedia design and production at City Varsity in Cape Town. He is currently in pursuit of a B.Com honours degree at Regent Business School.

Nkatingi shared that his company joined Basa as a member earlier this year. “It has always been my passion to help creative individuals find ways to use their talents to put food on the table. Basa became the right organisation for us to join as members because they aligned with our corporate social investment (CSI) goals to provide the industry with tools to help creatives make money,” he explained.

Earlier this year, Nkatingi was part of a workshop called ‘The web in website: Connecting with Collaborators, Clients and Corporates’. He explained the focus was to teach the participants how to create a website for themselves to increase their online presence.

“I made it onto the board because I nominated myself when an opening came up in August. I was then shortlisted based on my CV and cover letter and I presented myself to the board before the vote,” he explained.

He shared that his experience in strategic problem solving, knowledge of the creative industry and the ability to build relationships and partnerships in both the public and private sector will prove resourceful as a Basa board member. “I believe that ‘teamwork, makes the dream work’, which has helped me to both successfully lead as well as actively participate in teams and projects,” he added.

Nkatingi said Limpopo produces great talents and he hopes to actively contribute towards Basa’s mission to connect the creative sector to business investment, particularly in the province. “Only 1% of Basa’s membership comprised of businesses from Limpopo, I trust that this will go up in the future as we have one of the most vibrant and dominant art sectors in the country. It became easier for me as a non-executive director to have conversations with businesses from the province to become Basa members and contribute towards uplifting the arts sector in the province in particular,” he concluded.
