Missing Northern Academy learner found

The 17-year-old was reported missing on October 19.

POLOKWANE – Northern Academy learner, Fiona Phetogo Maako has been found.

This was confirmed in a post on the schools Facebook page over two hours ago. In the post the school thanked the authorities and all the parties who were involved in her safe return.

“As the Northern Academy and Maako families we would like to express gratitude for all the support and prayers in efforts to find Fiona. We are pleased to announce that she has been found and is now safe,” the post reads.

The 17-yearold Gr 11 learner from Magatle in Zebediela was reported missing on October 19.

POLOKWANE – The police in the city have launched a search operation for 17-year-old Fiona Phetogo Maako who was reported missing.

Police spokesperson Const Maphure Manamela said Maako is originally from Magatle in Zebediela and is a Gr 11 learner at Northern Academy.

“It is alleged Maako was seen at a mall nearby the school at around 14:30 on Tuesday (October 19).

“She was dressed in her school uniform and was carrying a black bag,” Manamela added.

Police search operations have been conducted at relatives, friends and surrounding areas, with out success.

“We appeal to the public to assist in the search. Anyone with information about her whereabouts can contact WO Peter Mangakeng on 082 728 9831.”

Alternatively they can also contact the 24-hour Crime Stop number on 08600 10111, their nearest police station or use the MySAPSApp.

Police investigations still continue.
