‘Modelling encourages the youth to speak up’

With big dreams to open her own model agency, Jacqueline Malatji (22) entered the Miss Limpopo Province 2022 pageant.

POLOKWANE – Jacqueline Malatji is an Honours student at the University of Limpopo, model coach and freelance graphic designer.

“I live in Mankweng and enjoy to read, dance and cook. For my community project I will donate clothes and cleaning supplies to a new drop-in centre, Bana-Pele, that opened in my area. I will also mentor the children there.”

Jacqueline is a self-taught model with seven years’ experience.

“During all the years I have done community projects, I realised that there are children and adults in need of clothes. They also want to feel good like the rest of us. I was privileged enough to have a mother who sewed clothes for me. Since it is almost the festive season, I will donate beautiful clothes that are still in good condition for people to wear.”

She wants to continue to touch the lives of her community and use the title of Miss Limpopo to focus on body shaming, mental health, and the out-casting of disabled people. “I want the youth to use the modelling platform to speak their minds because with all the things they face, there is no better platform to use. Since I teach modelling, I want the youth to use modelling as a tool to voice out their challenges.”

Jacqueline feels that she can make a change as the winner. “I believe in everything I do and it is good when you have support from those around you.”
