Hop on the Leeto La Polokwane bus this week

Free bus rides will commence from today (October 24) until Tuesday (October 26).

POLOKWANE – Operations of the Leeto La Polokwane bus system are set to commence this week with Phase 1A operations to start today (October 24).

Public Transport Regulation and Compliance assistant manager Rebotile Malakalaka says operations will begin with free rides between Sunday (October 24) to Tuesday (October 26), to allow passengers the opportunity to obtain their Leeto La Polokwane paper tickets before Wednesday (October 27).

“As from October 27, all passengers will be expected to produce a valid paper ticket to board the buses,” she explained.

Paper tickets will be available for sale from Monday (October 25), to allow passengers time to start using the tickets to board the buses from Wednesday.

Passengers can buy their paper tickets using cash or debit cards at the following municipal offices:
• Civic Centre, Rates Hall.
• Seshego Zone 1, Office along Chris Hani Street between Solomon Mahlangu
Street & 25th Street (Clinic).
• Seshego Zone 3, Home Affairs Office corner Kwena & 68th Street (Kings
• Complex); and
• • Seshego Zone 8, Office along 119th Ave between 120th Street & Samson
Phophi Street.
These offices are open on Monday to Friday from 08:00–15:00.

 “Until further notice, passengers will be boarding the buses by use of the paper tickets while the city is working on finalising the transition to the new travel card. Those in possession of the old Leeto card also need to obtain the ticket to avoid denial on the busses. Passengers are reminded to buy their paper tickets before boarding the buses for a trip. No ticket, no ride,” she explained.

Fares:

• Passengers travelling from Seshego to CBD will pay R10 for a single trip, R20 for a return, and R100 for a multi-journey ticket with 10 return trips.

• Travelling from Westenburg – Nirvana and Flora Park to the CBD will cost R6 for a single trip, R12 for a return trip and R60 for a multi-journey trip.

 “Leeto La Polokwane operates a scheduled service. Passengers will be happy to know that weekday operations start at 05:00 and continue until 19:00. On Saturdays, the service will operate from 07:00 until 16:00. Sunday and public holiday services will operate from 08:00 until 14:00,” Malakalaka concluded.
