106 564 Limpopo learners to sit for Gr 12 final exam

It's all systems go for the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination that will start on October 27 and are to be completed on December 6.

POLOKWANE – Education spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene says the province is ready to host the exam and will cater for 106 564 candidates who will write at the full-time centres and 35 596 candidates who will write in the repeat part-time centres, including one correctional centre.

“We are ready to deliver a credible exam and we encourage learners to be mindful of the code of conduct and the pledge that all candidates were expected to sign in order to commit themselves to credible conduct during the examination.”

She says the department has ensured the candidates are ready through enrichment classes that were hosted during the July and October school holidays on district level. These include camps that focused on physical science, mathematics, geography, life sciences, accounting and economics.

“We still have the Woza Matrics campaign which is available and offers tuition support in 10 subjects. The campaign is a free television initiative that was launched by the national department following academic destruction caused by Covid-19. It is a supplementary remote learning programme that seeks to benefit learners to catch up on curriculum learning and includes Gr 12 revision as well as exam preparations.”

She has urged all the matrics to take advantage of the the learning and teaching support material that has been provided.

According to Chuene, the department is confident the measures that have been put in place to manage and prevent Covid-19 will be sufficient to ensure a successful and credible examination.
