Motorists encouraged to take advantage of the Aarto service outlets in the city

Traffic fine? You can  now check your status at one of RTIA's Aarto service outlets.

POLOKWANE – The Road Traffic Infringement Agency (RTIA) in partnership with the Department of Transport will launch three Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences (Aarto) service outlets at the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex tomorrow (Friday).

This significant milestone in RTIA’s plans to increase service delivery points will be attended by dignitaries across the province along with the MEC for Transport, Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya and RTIA’s acting CEO, Dalian Mabula.

As part of the agency’s Aarto national rollout approach, RTIA has partnered with local municipalities in Limpopo to establish Aarto service outlets within their operational area which include Polokwane Municipality. The outlets will serve as an RTIA branch or local office that will be able to render various Aarto services to the public.

RTIA manager for media relations, Monde Mkalipi, says the agency calls upon motorists to take advantage of the service outlets in their communities.

“In an effort to provide quality service to motorists, RTIA has deployed well trained operators to render total solutions to all Aarto related enquiries. Road users will be afforded an opportunity to check their Aarto infringement status, and also receive advice on how to resolve such infringements by selecting from the available legislated elective options.”

He emphasised that no cash payments are accepted at the outlet, however, all the information on where payments can be made is available at the service points.

He says that in future only card payments will be made at the Aarto service outlets.

“The RTIA team will take part in the build-up community awareness activities before the launch.

“The educational and awareness activities will target all road users including ordinary motorists, taxi operators, passengers and road users working from home. At the heart of the Aarto process are the rights and options provided to motorists through the Aarto Act.”

He says the outlets are bringing these rights and options to the doorstep of motorists. Aarto is designed to ensure that there is justice in the adjudication of traffic infringements.

The following campaigns will take place in the city today (Thursday) between 09:00 and 13:00:

• Know your traffic fine status campaign at the Ladanna driving licence testing centre.

• Knock-and-drop campaign at the Westenburg taxi rank.

• Educational campaign at the Pick n Pay taxi rank.
