Cup of philanthropy tea

The Lighthouse Covenant Church hosted its second annual Fancy Hats Pearls High Tea event in Seshego Zone 6 last Saturday.

POLOKWANE –  Guests had to place a packet of sanitary towels in a basket as an entrance fee before they grabbed a welcome drink and stopped at the photobooth for a snap.

With a vintage, floral and bright dress code, members were dressed in fancy hats, pearls and gloves and they enjoyed delicious treats and engaged in conversation over a cup of tea or glass of bubbly.

Pastor Kgomotso Mabugana told BONUS that the purpose of the event was to raise funds for underprivileged girls in public schools.

“We have noticed that many girls struggle and miss school because they don’t have or can’t afford sanitary towels, so we came together as a church to find a solution for them. All the money collected today will be used to buy sanitary pads for young girls,” she said.

She thanked all the guests who took time out of their busy schedules to attend the event and make it a memorable one.

“We would also like to thank Legit for donating clothes to the church that will be distributed to identified schools in the community. These clothes and sanitary towels will go a long way,” she said.
