[WATCH] Municipal team tackles road hazard

Municipal workers are still on the scene to remove a fallen tree which blocked traffic on Thursday morning.

POLOKWANE – A tree that fell across Magazyn Street in the early hours is being removed branch by branch by a team from the Polokwane Municipality.

The tree resulted in an electrical cable being damaged and municipal workers on the scene told Review that they first need to remove the debris from the tree before they can attend to the damaged cable.

A female resident in the area says the tree fell at around 03:30 and adds that phone calls to the municipal call centre went directly to voicemail.

The municipal team arrived on the scene at 07:30 and have been working non-stop to clear the debris, she remarks.

Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala responded to the allegation that the emergency lines went to voicemail, saying that the emergency numbers operate 24-hours a day.
