Health MEC applauds security personnel for stopping criminal

The man had attempted to steal the batteries out of state ambulances, reads a statement issued by the Limpopo Department of Health

LIMPOPO -The Limpopo Department of Health has praised the security personnel at a Sekhukhune hospital after they caught a perpetrator who attempted to steal state property.

According to a statement issued by the department the man had attempted to steal the batteries out of an ambulance and several other state vehicles which were parked on the Philadelphia Hospital premises.

It is alleged the guards spotted the man while he was taking the batteries out of an ambulance and other state vehicles. The guards pursued the man and caught him when he attempted to jump a pallisade fence, reads the statement.

Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba applauded the personnel for their swift response.

She condemned the incident and urged the community to assist the department by reporting such malicious acts. 

“State vehicles such as ambulances belong to the community and will be there to save their lives the day the need them. The community should be first in line to protect these resources.

She concluded that she has hopes the justice system can “play it’s part and set an example so that no one can ever think of stealing government resources”.
