Vehicle overturns on R71 leaving one dead, two critical
A further four people sustained minor to moderate injuries, says ER24.
POLOKWANE – One man was killed while six others were injured when a vehicle overturned along the R71 road near Makgeng on Sunday morning.
ER24 paramedics attended to the scene at around 08:43.
According to Russel Meiring ER24’s Communications Officer the paramedics arrived on the scene to find a vehicle on its roof alongside the road. “Six people were lying some distance from the vehicle while one person was still trapped inside the wreckage,” he said.
Meiring said medics assessed the patients and found that a man and two women were critical while three others, including the entrapped man, had sustained moderate to minor injuries. A seventh person had already succumbed to his numerous injuries and was declared dead on the scene, he added.
Members of the Provincial Fire Services used specialised rescue equipment to the entrapped patient from the wreckage.
“All injured persons were treated on the scene and the critically injured were provided with advanced life support before being transported to various hospitals for further care.”
He added that local authorities were on the scene to conduct investigations.
