Light at the end of this muni project
The Polokwane Municipality has started with the repairs of streetlights in the city and some parts of Seshego. Here's what residents had to say:
POLOKWANE – Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala says the maintenance team is dealing with streetlights as per the list of affected streets, as submitted by the various councillors.
“All the areas in the licensed area of the Polokwane Municipality are currently receiving attention.”
A complaint over a broken street light in Mohlopi Street in Flora Park recently saw the municipality repair all the lights in the street.
When the complaint came, residents told Polokwane Observer that a motorist had damaged the pole and that they were struggling to receiving assistance from the municipality.
Since then, the municipality has addressed the matter.
Selala says residents can report faulty streetlights through their ward councillors or via the energy services call centre on (015) 023 5490, 015 023 5705 and 083 824 9886.
He says streetlights are maintained as and when reported.
We asked Polokwane residents if they felt safer after their street lights were fixed, and if they thought the faulty lights affected the crime rate in the area.
