Do not be deceived by false tenders and job opportunities

The Limpopo Department of Health issued this warning after the email accounts of officials within the department were hacked.

LIMPOPO – The business community and job-seekers are warned to not be deceived by fraudulent tenders and job opportunities which are being distributed via email in the name of the Limpopo Department of Health. This after the email accounts of several officials within the department were hacked.

Spokesperson for the MEC of Health Thilivhali Muavha said the department is aware of the scams. “The swindlers modus operandi is to use the email addresses to issue out fraudulent appointment letters and orders for tenders and jobs.” Thereafter the swindlers will ask for a monetary bribe from the unsuspecting victims, he added.

“In compliance with the requirements of Supply Chain Management prescripts, the department publishes the lists of bidders immediately after the application process of each bids/tender closes.  It is suspected that the swindlers might be utilising the published list to target mostly those who have put in a bid for certain tenders. They then claim that their application has been successful and therefore they must pay a particular fee as a kickback.”

Muavha said the department has receives several reports of people calling job-seekers demanding bribes in order to give them jobs in the department.

“The department wishes to once again remind the public that tenders and jobs are not for sale and paying a kickback in order to receive a tender or a job is complicity to corruption. Those who receives such calls are advised to approach the police and report the matter immediately.”

He concluded that anyone who receives such emails can verify the credibility of the source by contacting the Limpopo Department of Health Supply Chain on 015 293 6349.
