[WATCH] Mom of murder victim’s tearful plea

The family of the strangled Chantelle Ash and baby Tasneem, call on the public to assist in the manhunt for murder accused Mohammad Nasir (29).

POLOKWANE – Annie the mother of the late Chantell Ash (20) reached out to the public via a video message on Thursday (September 30).

This follows the escape of Mohammad Nasir (29), a Bangladeshi citizen is due to stand trial for the murder of his wife Chantelle and their eight-month-old daughter, Tasneem. Nasir along with three other prisoners
escaped from the police cells at the Mahwelereng Police Station on Sunday evening. It is believed that Nasir is still in the Mokopane area.

In a video Annie issues a heartfelt plea to the public, asking them to assist the police in their manhunt for the escapees, mainly Nasir.

“We are heartbroken. My child and grandchild were brutally murdered and we deserve answers.”

Nasir was arrested on January 21 around a week after the decomposing bodies of Chantell and Tasneem were found, at Maponya Lodge on the outskirts of Mokopane. Their hands were tied behind their backs and according to police reports the victims were strangled to death.

The court denied his bail application in February, leaving him in police custody. A date for his trial in the Polokwane High Court was set for September 5, 2022.
