BREAKING NEWS: Polokwane airport given the green light

There is some light at the end of the tunnel for the Polokwane International Airport as the South African Civil Aviation Authority has given them the green light to resume commercial flights.

POLOKWANE – Gateway Airport Authority Limited (GAAL) can resume full operations from mid-October almost six months after the Polokwane International Airport was downgraded due to safety concerns.

In April, the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) downgraded the airport from category level seven to level two after an inspection revealed that it was not compliant with their governing regulations. The downgrade saw the airport unable to accommodate commercial flights as most of the issues of non-compliance were safety-related.

Transport MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya previously said she was confident that all 14 matter will be attended to and the airport would be able to reclaim its former glory.
