[VIDEO] Road project to bring relief to motorists and job seekers in Limpopo

The Letsema Ditseleng road revitalisation and job creation programme is an initiative to improve the state and quality of provincial roads while creating much needed jobs for poor and unskilled people.

LIMPOPO – The MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, Namane Dickson Masemola launched the Letsema Ditseleng road revitalisation and job creation programme in Ha-Mashau recently, promising that this project will create temporary jobs for residents in the nearby villages.

The launch was held at the Ha-Mashau sport ground on Tuesday, September 14 and was attended by mayors, Dowelani Nenguda, Samuel Munyai and Moses Maluleke.

Recent rainfall has contributed to the already poor state of the roads after floods were experienced in the beginning of the year.

According to Masemola, 240 laborers around the Ha-Mashau and Bungeni areas in the Collins Chabane Municipality will have jobs through the project.

“We want to improve the lives of motorists and residents. The department and its entity, the Road Agency Limpopo (RAL) continue to invest efforts and resources in addressing the situation that we are confronted with, which earnestly concerns and affects the people of the province in various ways in their socio-economic aspect of life,” said Masemola.

Having noted the existing challenges and financial constraints, Masemola has been steadfast in exploring possible options, working with the management and relevant experts to try and turn the situation around.

Operation Letsema Distseleng is part of a broader national initiative to improve the state and quality of the roads in the province while creating much needed jobs for poor and unskilled people in Limpopo. The initiative also seeks to create a platform for communities to work with government in improving the state of their roads, and promote active citizenry as well as have responsibility over public property while bettering the lives of the people.
