Root of her cooking

Chef Bukola Falodun started her solo cooking career and baking business, named Chef Prodigies, after she parted ways with a her previous business partner in 2019.

POLOKWANE – The Bendor resident says she was inspired to enable the youth and to lay the foundation for a lifelong healthy and nutritious lifestyle in a fun way, as well as to improve their food preparation skills. She adds that her passion for cooking and baking started when she was in primary school.

“It was always my dream to work in the culinary industry and I always wanted to empower the community through cooking and baking. I want to sharpen the skills of those who are interested in the industry. I love to work with my hands and I would always decorate the cakes in my mom’s restaurant. Now I can proudly say I can cook and bake anything,” she says.

She explains that there is never a dull moment as the culinary industry is a very creative field that experiments with new things on a daily basis. Bukola loves traditional dishes because it always takes her back to her roots and remind her of where she is from.

She runs a programme two Saturdays every month where children are able to develop their sensory, motor, mathematical, social, safety and emotional skills.

“We offer a variety of baking, decorating, cooking and lifestyle programmes for the youth and schools. We are mobile and passionate about creative learning in our culinary adventure. We run a culinary programme once a week at schools and teach kids to do fun party cake decorations,” she said.

She teaches cooking and baking classes at Mitchell House, PEPPS, Bet-Shalom Christian School, Edublox Reading and Learning Clinic and Northview Christian Academy.

Chef Bukola will host a National Cupcake Day for children with cancer at Mall of the North on September 25. To be a part of the baking day contact 079 380 7335.
