He is required to give notice of two months, but has already on several occasions not reported for duty, citing medical reasons.

The report adds that Makobe has not reported from September 9 and that he also applied for leave from October 4 to 29.

His resignation was accepted by the council, who granted him leave up until his last day of duty. He is to officially hand over during this period.

In the interim the council appointed Ramakuntwane Selepe as the acting municipal manager. He is expected to ensure a smooth transition until a new municipal manager is appointed by the new incoming council after the elections.

Municipal spokesperson Thipa SelaIa confirmed the resignation.

“Today the council has appointed Selepe in an acting capacity for the next three month until the process of appointing a new municipal manager has been completed,” he added.
