Two-day water shutdown confirmed for Polokwane

The Polokwane Municipality has set a date for the shutdown, which was initially set for the end of last month.

POLOKWANE – Polokwane Municipality spokesperson Thipa Selala has confirmed the date and time for the 48-hour water supply interruption, which was initially scheduled for the end of August.

Selala in a statement said Lepelle Northern Water notified them that water supply from the Olifantspoort will be interrupted due to Specon pipeline repairs.

“The shutdown will continue for 48 hours from 07:00 on Wednesday (September 15). The shutdown was initially planned for August 31 but was postponed,” he explained.

Selala said all areas from Ga-Maja, Ga-Chuene, Thokgwaneng, the city and Seshego will be affected.

“The municipality will provide temporary relief measures through water tankers during the shutdown. Water supply shall be restored once Lepelle Northern Water has completed repairs, however, it will still take some time before water reaches all areas,” he added.

Selala urged residents with water supply to use it sparingly. “Any water-related challenges should be lodged by contacting the Water and Sanitation helpline on 015 023 5376 / 5629,” he concluded.
