Gr 11 learners excel in mathematics Olympiad

The duo competed against the best 100 mathematics learners from various schools in the country.

POLOKWANE – Northern Academy Secondary School has congratulated their Gr 11 learners, Tapiwanashe Mukonoweshuro and Madimetja Modiba for making it to the third and final round of the South African Mathematics Olympiad recently held in Gauteng.

The duo competed against the best 100 mathematics learners from various schools in the country.

Mathematics teacher at the school, Ngoni Maromani described the duo as good prospects for the future. “They are two of my brightest and most promising learners and next year when they are in Gr 12, I have no doubt that they will produce results that are beyond exceptional. It is learners like these who make the profession of teaching so rewarding”.

Marketer for the school Makhanani Chabalala said they are proud of the strides made by Tapiwanashe and Madimetja in the competition. “The South African Mathematics Olympiad is the biggest olympiad in the country. Almost 100 000 learners participate nationally every year and we are proud to have representation in the competition. The competition will enable them to reach for the stars. We are encouraging other learners to follow their footsteps.”
