Correctional services warns of recruitment scam making the rounds in Limpopo

DCS Polokwane says the fictitious recruitment application form is currently being shared across social media platforms.

LIMPOPO – The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) has warned the public about a fraudulent recruitment application that is being distributed across all social media platforms.

The application is being distributed under the name of the Tzaneen Correctional Centre and is being used to swindle unsuspecting job seekers of their money in exchange for fictitious jobs, said Sachiel Nemafhohoni, DCS Communications Manager in Polokwane.

Nemafhohoni explained that the fake advert calls on people to apply for a learnership at the said centre. “The fake advert calls on applicants to apply through email (dcs.recruitment@outlook.com, fax (086 762 6865) or via WhatsApp (072 511 8689). This fake advert further indicates a stipend payment of R 4 500 per month over a period of 12 months.”

He added that DCS  does not charge applicants for any employment opportunities within the department. “When posts or learnership opportunities become available, DCS will advertise the postings through various reputable platforms including its website.”

Nemafhohoni reiterated that “as for now there are no advertised learnerships”.

He cautioned those seeking employment not to fall prey to such scams, and further called upon those who have been scammed to report these illegal activities to law enforcement agencies.
