Help the Sithole family fix their destroyed home

The family lost their home in a fire and appeal to the community for donations in the form of money or building material.

POLOKWANE – The Sithole family from Seshego Zone 1 lost their home in a terrible fire. Now they are struggling to repair the damages due to a lack of finances, and they are asking for donations in the form of money or building material.

After the fire the nine-roomed house, which the Sithole siblings lived in, was left without a roof, furniture, windows or proper doors. Caroline Sithole said she was at her own home when her family’s house was set ablaze.

“All but a few rooms were completely destroyed. My siblings chose to move out, but I had to move in and take care of my younger brother Alfred, who is mentally disabled,” she explained, adding that she lost her job and struggles to take care of her family.

“Alfred’s grant money is our only source of income at the moment, which is not enough to sustain us and fix our home. The house is just a mess.

“When it rains, the house floods as there are leaks everywhere. It is worse in the winter because we freeze all night long,” she said.

She mentioned that they live in fear of an attack or robbery at night because there is no proper security to keep them safe.

Caroline told BONUS that there are people in the area, such as Malose Thembo, who help them if they are able to.

Thembo promised to help the Sithole family in any way he can. Since the house burned down, he decided to go door-to-door and ask for donations to support the family.

“We ask that the people in our community assist us in the spirit of Ubuntu,” Caroline concluded.
