‘No mjolo’ posters a no-go with readers

The health department's posters, with the tag line 'Mjolo slaps harder when you are protected' sparked conversation on social media, with most users showing their dissatisfaction at the campaign.

LIMPOPO – Within 30 minutes of being released the Limpopo Department of Health’s ‘no vaccination, no mjolo’ posters sparked conversation on social media, with most users showing their dissatisfaction at the campaign.

The posters, with the tag line ‘Mjolo slaps harder when you are protected’ have offended some who believe that the department should not have approved the campaign or the poster and should instead focus on “providing better healthcare services.”

Some of those who left their comments on the department’s Facebook page said they thought that MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba and her team were trying to bully people into vaccinating while other people thought it was funny that the department was trying to stay relevant.

This comes just days after the MEC announced that she would be rallying behind a ‘no vaccine, no alcohol’ campaign that is aimed at lobbying the alcohol industry to refuse people to buy any alcohol without proof of vaccination.

Ramathuba previously told Polokwane Review that said these campaigns were aimed at motivating more people to vaccinate.
